NAS JRB New Orleans Unaccompanied Housing Awarded for Superior Residential Service
The department was presented with three A-List awards after receiving positive feedback in resident surveys from occupants of buildings 470, 472 and 562 onboard NAS JRB New Orleans. They also received the Crystal A-List award for customer service excellence for their attention and care to the needs of their occupants in UH.
“We would never allow the men or women that live in these barracks to live in a room that we wouldn’t want to live in. Our housing manager, Cassandra Adams, treats our residents like they are extended family,” said NAS JRB New Orleans Housing Program Director Robin Ferrier.
Adams has served the NAS JRB New Orleans community for over 30 years, creating a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere that fosters open communication with occupants who live onboard the installation.
“I treat them like I would want someone to treat my son,” said Adams about her interactions with occupants. “If he was in the military, or if he was in college, or was away from home, I would sleep better at night knowing somebody was there looking after him. So that’s what I try to do here for them.”
Adams and the rest of the UH team’s thorough care and open-door communication facilitated the achievement of the A-List and Crystal awards, which are given for the attainment of a Service Satisfaction Index Score of at least 85% with an overall occupant survey response rate of 20% or more.
“There is a lot of effort that goes into ensuring that this installation is a great place to live and work for service members and their families,” said NAS JRB New Orleans Commanding Officer Capt. Andrew McGinly. “I am incredibly proud of the personnel we have here that make sure that we hold a high standard when it comes to quality of life.”
Adams said she is optimistic about the future of UH, with ongoing quality-of-life improvements projects such as barracks renovations and the inclusion of a UH Community Center for Navy barracks recreation well underway.
“This is my little part in giving back to the service members that help and protect the country,” said Adams. “Taking care of them and giving back to them.”
NAS JRB New Orleans is home to 33 active-duty and reserve component tenant commands from the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Coast Guard. As a premier military training destination with direct access to Gulf of America airspace, the air station operates two active runways to support joint-force combat readiness and homeland defense missions.
